CRT will confuse our youth and divide the Country. Everyone should know the history of this great Nation. Some of it not so pleasant, but to paint a one sided picture and push the message we have not grown as a society is criminal! Will there be prejudiced people? Of course as long as there are human beings.
The History of the US needs to be told – Teach it all and teach the facts!
FACT: Slavery was not an American phenomenon. Slavery was common practice in antiquity and referred to in the Bible
FACT: African tribes engaged in slavery.
FACT: Africa Tribes were instrumental in the TransAtlantic Slave Trade
FACT: March 1854 Anti- Slavery Whigs created the Republican Party
FACT: Abraham Lincoln – Republican
FACT: Civil War – Approximately 400,000 WHITE Union soldiers died.
FACT: All races and genders assisted in the Underground Railroad.
FACT: The Republican Party introduced the 13th Amendment-passed in the Republican strong Senate, not passed in the House due to higher percentage of Democrats could not get the necessary 2/3rds majority. Second time it passed.
FACT : Native Americans had Black Slaves.
FACT: Blacks had slaves.
FACT: Slavery or servitude exists today!
My point… to condemn all White people today and make them feel responsible for the transgressions of the past (not even known if their families had slaves), is wrong. To not give credit for the bravery and persistence of White Abolitionist is wrong. To not remember and embrace the teachings of Martin Luther King is wrong.
To not hold Black politicians for not addressing the inequities in their cities and states today is wrong.
Stop trying to divide this Country with the same old racial rhetoric!
